Program Description:

Program description: New Music in New York offers Shenandoah Conservatory students the rare opportunity to go behind-the-scenes and experience some of new music’s most innovative performances and boundary-pushing leaders.  Highlights include trips to some of New York City’s major cultural sites, opportunities to meet representatives from the industry and attendance at performances featuring new music’s leading composers, performers, and organizations. 

Highlights include (subject to change):

Trips to some of New York City’s major cultural sites, including the Museum of Modern Art

Performance by the New York Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall

Beth Morrison’s Prototype Festival featuring operas by Emma O’Halloran and Huang Ruo

Opportunities to meet representatives from NewMusicUSA, ASCAP, NYC Music Services and more


Cost: $1,750 per student. This covers round-trip travel expenses from Washington, D.C., transportation within the city, hotel, most meals, and tickets to program-related performances and events. Students are responsible for any additional funds to pay for some meals, souvenirs and other extracurricular activities.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster is required.
